Lucky Charms, Talismans and Amulets, Photographs talisman series, 2008-ongoing

In nearly all countries around the globe, car drivers hang objects from the mirror or decorate the dashboard below the windscreen with them. Respective objects frequently originate from the domestic environment. They often have to be seen in religious context. The different objects are supposed to protect the driver, act as general lucky charm. The charms kept in cars may be of most various materials, as evidenced by the numerous lucky charms I took photos of in different countries. They allow for various levels of contemplation and tell all kinds of stories about the people driving those cars. The individual objects’ poetry makes us clearly feel the power and magic.
